Getting to Saba is now easier than ever...

May 3, 2021
Saba opened its borders to vaccinated tourists on May 1, 2021.  Be certain to confirm your St. Maarten to Saba connection BEFORE booking your airfare in to SXM as flights and ferry schedules have changed. Winair will continue to add to its schedule as demand increases. The Edge ferry schedule can be seen below. The Dawn II ferry is presently NOT operating.

New considerations in Covid-19 era

See the link from our home page for travel entry procedures. Remember you need re-approval entry for both St. Maarten and Saba but the process is actually well organized and does not take long once you have your testing organized.

Saba is the smallest island in the Dutch Caribbean, located at 17.63 and 63.23. You can get to Saba on a flight or by ferry but only via the island of St. Maarten (SXM, Princess Juliana Airport), 28 miles from Saba. SXM is a major hub with flights form the US and Europe. Daily air travel to and from St. Maarten is offered by American, Delta, United, Spirit, Jet Blue, Air France, KLM, COPA, and more.

Saba's location in the Caribbean

Saba by air:
Saba by Air: Located 28 miles southwest of St. Maarten, Saba is reached by a short 12-minute flight on Windward Island Airways. Winair (airline code WM) provides 3-5 conveniently scheduled connecting flights to and from St. Maarten each day. The last flight each day is just before dark (there are no lights at the Saba airport) so be sure to book your major carrier flight that lands on SXM before 3 p.m.  You can easily book your own Winair flight: to look at scheduling options and direct e-ticketing.

Saba by sea:

Sea Saba is now the Saba agent for The Edge ferry!

Make your reservations in advance with us:  email or call and we can set up the ferry, diving, guided hikes, taxi tours and more!  Aqua Mania owns The Edge and is the provider of water sports activities on Dutch St. Maarten. The Edge is the most economical option if you are looking to come to Saba for the day and return back to SXM the same day or longer!

If you are coming to Saba on The Edge ferry directly from your international , it’s time to switch to Caribbean mode. Presently, The Edge is departing from the Simpson Bay Police dock—a 10-minute, $10 taxi ride. If you are traveling on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday (every other Monday), the immigration process opens at 3:45 p.m. (15:45 hours) Therefore, it’s better to have your taxi drop you at a nearby bar or restaurant—options range from McDonalds to Indian to great local restaurants at the fish market across the road.  I highly recommend the conch soup at Johnny B!

If you are spending time in St. Maarten and traveling on an early morning Edge run, you will need to go to the Aqua Mania office before 5 p.m. the day prior to provide your entry documents as the manifest must be prepared in advance of the departure. There will be no exceptions for last minute walk ons.
