29. Core Gut
Mooring depth: 40 feet (12m)
Maximum depth: 120 feet (35m)
Peer through the looking glass while ascending to the mushroom-shaped Honeycomb Plate Corals and Sunray Lettuce Corals that create this majestic seascape. A northerly route yields a deeper wall dive with Barracudas and Ceros passing by. A southerly route traverses a steep slope where Queen Angels, Southern Stingrays, and Hawksbill Turtles are usually found. Either way, it's always great to look up at the surf crashing against the wall... At the very end of the dive, be sure to check out the healthy Elkhorn Coral heads just underneath the boat; if you are lucky you might spot an Octopus there!
