Atlanta,
GA - Representing Saba's
interests, "renaissance women" Lynn Costenaro of Sea Saba
and Beth Jansen of Dive Saba Travel attended the
4th annual Action Sports and Adventure Travel Expo that was held at the
Cobb Galleria Convention Center in Atlanta on October 9 and 10. In
addition to being able to soon see Saba in a whole
new light, the big news coming out of Atlanta this year is the
start of Delta's direct non-stop air service from Atlanta to St.
Maarten on December 15. Both Lynn and Beth agree that this is an
important milestone that will yield more options for travel to
Saba and will benefit not only those from the Atlanta area but those
making connections via Atlanta. With an 11:00 AM departure from
Atlanta, this flight will offer convenient connections to Saba via
Winair on a daily basis. See our new travel
page, for more information on getting here.
Over
coffee on Sunday morning (apparently after a late night on
Saturday), Lynn and Beth were pleasantly surprised to see Saba
featured on the front page of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's
Travel section. In an article entitled "Ideal Isles",
staff writer David Swanson rated Saba as "Best Small
Island" beating out other formidable foes such as Virgin Gorda,
Culebra, St. John, Terre des Haut and Bequia. Naturally, we agree
with his assessment and concur -- no beaches, no casinos, no full
scale resorts, and no apologies about any of it.
Like most
things, timing is everything and with Delta's new service and the
above article, Lynn and Beth's promotion of Saba as the
Caribbean's unique tourism destination in an important
southeastern market couldn't have come at a
better time.
Happy Anniversary, Beth...
